the following links for information regarding hunting in New Zealand: IMPORTANT SAFARI HUNTING INFORMATIONAuckland and Christchurch are the entry points for hunters coming to New Zealand. A firearms license and permit can be obtained from the airport police, from the New Zealand Police web site (www.police.govt.nz) or click HERE for a printable PDF file of the permit application. It is valid for your time here. This is to be filled in and be presented to the police upon arrival. We suggest that you complete this document and fax it to the airport police at their arrival point (either Auckland or Christchurch) prior to arriving in New Zealand, as this will help speed up the permit process and your movement through customs. Please check with your travel organiser as to whether you will require a visa. Queenstown will be your final destination when hunting in New Zealand. We will meet you at the airport and accommodate you in our home for your first night. This will provide you with a chance to recover from your trip, talk over your forthcoming hunt with David and make final preparations before departing on your hunting safari. Queenstown is the adventure capital of New Zealand. Hunters and their non-hunting partners can arrange to ski, shop, sightsee or do other adventure activities whilst on their hunt with us. |

Our New Zealand hunting areas are all within 1 – 3 hrs of Queenstown. Our primary trophy species in New Zealand are Red Stag, Himalyan Tahr and Alpine Chamois although many other species are also available. Please ask us for information on our multi-species packaged hunts. Whilst the weather may be changeable, it is usually mild to cool if hunting during March and April. However, it will become progressively colder leading in to winter, which is June, July and August. The calibre of the hunting rifle you bring should be one that you are familiar and comfortable with. Calibres from 308 – 300 Win mag are the most popular. Forty rounds of ammunition should be adequate for sighting-in and hunting. If you prefer, we can supply a rifle and ammunition, at no extra cost. Traditional spot and stalk methods are most commonly used with access by 4X4, and helicopter to the more remote areas. Hunting is all free ranging and fair chase. Preserve hunts are by request only. Accommodation during the hunt is farm quarters, high mountain hut or tent camp. |
